About Materials and Their Fees


Please be aware that some Community Services classes have materials/handouts required by the instructor. All material fees are paid at the time of registration. Material fees are always optional. However, should you choose not to purchase such supplies or materials, your participation in the class may be limited. Community Services, LACC, and LACCD are held harmless from such fee disputes between the teacher and student(s).

Christmas Sewing Circle-


1¾ yard of Polarfleece fabric, one hand needle with a big eye and thread to match. Optional: One embroidery floss (of six strands) to match fabric or for contrast, or 7 yds. of matching double fold bias tape. Bring a pencil, 60” tape measure, scissors, seam ripper, hand needles, pins, sewing gauge, and tailor’s chalk. Materials for additional projects to be discussed in class. May bring your own sewing machine.

Costura Navideña-


1¾ yard de tela Polarfleece, una aguja con ojo grande y hilo del mismo color de la tela. Opciones: Un hilo para bordar (hecho de seis hilos) del mismo color de la tela o para contraste, o 7 yds. de bies doble al color de la tela o contraste. Traer un Lapiz, cinta metrica de 60”pulgadas, tijeras, descosedor, agujas de mano, alfileres, regla de 6” pulgadas con guía (sewing gauge) y una tiza de sastre. Materiales para proyectos adicionales serán explicados en clase. Puede traer su máquina de coser.

Aprenda A Coser


* Traer el 1er día de clase, un lápiz, una pluma, cuaderno, cinta de medir de 60" pulgadas, dos o tres carretes de hilo (no chiquitos) uno del color de la tela,  tijeras que corten bien, descosedor, tiza de sastre, aguja de coser a mano, alfileres y un alfiletero, "sewing gauge" (una regla metal de 6" pulgadas con guía para hacer bastilla).
*1er proyecto: Traer tela color Solido o Estampado 5/8yd of Mesclilla, Canvas, o Cotton Twill
*2do proyecto (opcional): La tela será sugerida en clase.
? Si usted prefiere usar su propia máquina de coser, puede traerla a la clase.

3 Mixing bowls with lids for icing

Simple Buttercream Recipe (Yields 4 cups)

spools of thread (not traveling size) one same color as the fabric, one good pair of  scissors, seam ripper, one tailor's chalk, hand sewing needle, pins and a pin cushion, one sewing gauge (a 6" metal ruler with a gauge).
* 2 1/4 yd of Print or Solid cotton Fabric (non-stretchable cotton fabric - no plaids/no squares, one 7" inch zipper (not metal) and one hook and eye and interfacing to be suggested in class.
*If you are taking Sewing II again- Before the 1st meeting request supply list from the instructor.
*If you prefer to use your own sewing machine, you may bring it to class.
