The Art of Hand Sewing

Learn the fundamentals of hand sewing in a relaxed, beginner-friendly class designed to build confidence and skill. Students will practice essential techniques including basic stitches, hemming, and attaching buttons and closures. By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge to mend, alter, and create simple projects entirely by hand.
 

List of materials required for class:
The following can be purchased as a kit, or you can purchase them individually and create your kit (put in a box of some kind if you are creating your kit). Dritz sells an affordable sewing kit with most of these materials at Michaels Walmart.

• Seam ripper

• Pair of adult-sized sewing scissors

• Spool of thread (all-purpose thread), preferably in a color other than white

• Pins and pin cushion

• Hand needles

• Tailor’s chalk or fabric marking pen/pencil

• Needle threader (optional)

• 18” clear ruler (optional)
